Engelhard Receives 2004 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award Engelhard Corp. received a 2004 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Five winners received awards for innovative, yet practical technologies that prevent pollution through cleaner, cheaper, smarter chemistry. Engelhard Corp. was recognized for its Rightfit organic pigments. Rightfit azo pigments contain calcium, strontium or sometimes barium instead of heavy metals, thereby reducing risks to human health and the environment. Because of their low toxicity and very low migration, most Rightfit pigments have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Canadian Health Protection Branch (HPB) for indirect food contact applications.
